At Pho Pho Restaurant, we are a small family busniess that aim to provide the most authetic Vietnamese cuisine to everyone and great services, that's where you come in, you are becoming our family not just a job title.
We’re looking for a Sous Chef who is efficient, enthusiastic, and takes pride in their work but can have fun along the way! We’re after a multitasker who can work well under pressure whilst maintaining our high standards, who can offer flexibility and work autonomously within a team, and passionate about food, have experience in Vietnamese cuisine is a must along with other Asian food.
This is a rostered position working a combination of mornings, evenings, and weekend shifts, $24 - $28 per hour, minimum 30 hours per week.
Please note: You should have a minimum 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.
what you will do:
- Report to head chef/front of house manager to liaise with commercial
kitchen supplier to organise and purchase kitchen equipment needed
- contribute to create new menu for Vietnamese cuisines, with flexibility to
create menus with modern twists and expected to review/update
menus on a half yearly basis
- Willing to try and explore new and unique menus and has to deliver
authentic Vietnamese flavours
- Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities, with a focus
on Vietnamese cuisine
- Operating the cooks on and supervising cook's
activities on daily basis
- Rectify arising problems or complaints with back of house staff
- Give prepared plates the “final touch”
- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
- Ensure all stocks are ordered correctly, tracked on receipt and being
kept securely under correct conditions, to ensure minimal loss.
- Conduct regular stock checks/stock-takes.
- Any other duties the employer may reasonably require.
what you will bring:
- Must be very familiar with Vietnamese dishes/taste, and
recreate authentic menus to suit local taste.
- Experience over 2 years
- Skilled at training junior chefs
- Good time managing
-Food Safety Certificate is a plus
-Hold a positive “can do” attitude

- Honest and reliable
- Must hold a New Zealand citizen/ residence or a valid work visa
