The Barron River is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, hotel in Cairns first built as a lodging house in 1887 for local timber yard workers. It was then opened by The Tully family as a hotel in 1927. It has a long and rich history etched into the fabric of the hotel.

Our menu makes great use of the seasons freshest ingredients, combining succulent seafood and mouth-watering steaks with prime local produce.

What will you bring to the table?

• Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, support, and mentor the team
• Lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
• Implement and manage stock control, ordering, and checking of deliveries  
• Provide high quality meals in a fast-paced environment
