JOB DESCRIPTION

Mabu Mabu is an indigenous owned food business on a mission to make native ingredients the hero of Australian kitchen. We believe that food is one of the greatest ways we can share both culture and comnunity. 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our supportive team as a Head Chef.

As the Head chef  Mabu Mabu Tuck shop, you will have a creative approach to consulting on menu design with a focus on seasonal native produce, learning more about native ingredients , delivering honest and delicious food.

You will be expected to provide leadership, coordinate and support staff and create a secure and safe working environment across the venue.

Our venue is looking for the right candidate to make their mark on our food program, leading the charge with an enthusiastic team of chefs and cooks who are ready for the next challenge. 

 


RECOMMENDED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

Head Chef

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

  • 2+ years of proven experience as a head  Chef
  • Plan & create menus 
  • Taking responsibility for the food production with a hands-on approach
  • Building positive relationships with staff
  • Adhering to all relevant health and safety & food safety standards
  • Identify, develop and maintain establishment policies and procedures
  • Impart knowledge, skills and training to all kitchen staff
  • Keep food & labour costs to establishment requirements
  • Join and be an active part of the management meeting
  • Day-to-day management of prep and line kitchens
  • Training cooks and chefs at all levels, motivating and leading the kitchen team
  • Driving an innovative and quality focussed food program
  • Monitor food stock and place orders
