JOB DESCRIPTION

We are a small & busy 60 seater Italian restaurant located in the heart of Forestville centre. We are looking for an individual passionate about food & customer service to join our ever growing multicultural team in creating a fun & vibrant workplace. Chef responsibilities include studying recipes, setting up menus and preparing high-quality dishes. You should be able to delegate tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared in a timely manner. You should be familiar with sanitation regulations. If you have experience with advanced cooking techniques and non-traditional ingredients, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you’ll prepare and deliver a complete menu that delights our guests.

Tasks & responsibilities

- Organising orders and sending deliveries

- Arranging dockets & timing expected return of drivers 

- Ensuring the pizza section, prep areas & all equipment used is kept clean & tidy.

- Handling stock & liaise with chefs to place orders

- Be able to fulfil pizza orders as required in a timely manner and to restaurant standard.

- Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)

- Be able to monitor food for quality.

- Be willing to learn our methods of stretching dough, cutting & filling pizza bases.

- Must be available on weekends & public holidays

- Must follow instructions & fulfil duties given by our Chefs & Manager.

- Pizza Maker is responsible for assisting in the daily running of our pizza kitchen (along with our pizza cook) including pizza & ingredient preparation, light customer service, presentation standards and cleaning duties.

-  Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum 2 years electric pizza oven experience preferred.
  • Must be able to fluently communicate in english reading, writing & speaking.
  • Must be able to Greet and give away take away orders to customers 
  • Be hard working & able to cope in a high pressure environment.
  • Be a team player, maintain hygiene standards, be well organised and customer service oriented.

Please note: You should have a minimum up to 2 years previous experience in the above or similar roles.


REQUIREMENTS

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
  • Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. Slicer Machine, Vegetable prep machine ect.)
  • Leadership skills
  • Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
  • Excellent time management abilities
  • Up-to-date knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes
  • Familiarity with sanitation regulations
  • Culinary school diploma preferred
