About Como Restaurant & Bar:
Como Restaurant & Bar is the very latest edition to Brisbane’s trendy Fish Lane in the vibrant Culture and Arts precinct of West End. This new fine dining, Italian restaurant and bar is still under construction and due to open its doors in December. The exciting design concept will offer multiple spaces above and beyond the standard floor dinging including date night booths, private dining rooms and a luxury bar. The kitchen is cutting edge with an ergonomic design and housing all the very best quality tools available to make any chef envious. As a Kitchen Hand, you will play a vital role in supporting the overall operations of a professional kitchen. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the kitchen staff in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will be involved in various tasks to ensure the smooth functioning of the kitchen and contribute to the delivery of high-quality food and an exceptional dining experience to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization: Ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are adhered to by regularly cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, surfaces, and equipment. This includes washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment, as well as monitoring and restocking cleaning supplies as needed.
2. Food Preparation Assistance: Assist the kitchen team with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients. Follow recipes and instructions provided by the chefs to contribute to the preparation of meals.
3. Stock Management: Assist in monitoring and rotating stock items, such as ingredients, perishable goods, and kitchen supplies. This involves checking inventory levels, reporting shortages, and assisting with stock ordering and storage.
4. Waste Management: Ensure proper disposal of food waste and recyclable materials in compliance with designated procedures and environmental guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization in waste disposal areas.
5. Kitchen Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment, such as ovens, grills, fryers, and other cooking utensils. Report any defective equipment or maintenance requirements to the appropriate staff members.
6. Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations: Follow established health and safety guidelines and practices to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to food handling and sanitation standards and report any potential hazards or incidents promptly to management.
7. Team Collaboration: Work harmoniously within a team environment, supporting chefs and other kitchen staff in their tasks. Communicate effectively and proactively contribute to the smooth operations of the kitchen.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a Kitchen Hand or in a similar role is preferred but not always necessary.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to food handling.
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
