JOB DESCRIPTION

The Veneto Club Melbourne is one of the largest Italian clubs in Victoria, located on Bulleen Road just off the Eastern Freeway exit. Established over 50 years ago, the Veneto Club Melbourne is an award-winning, multi-outlet hospitality venue recognised for its great food, functions, entertainment & sport. 

We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Functions and Events Manager based at the Club.

The Role:

The Functions & Events Manager is responsible for promoting and operating all functions, including providing food and beverage and professional operation of our Functions department. The role is hands, and working on the floor is a requirement of the role. However, you will be working within a team to share the load. 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Responsible for the operations of the functions and events department 
  2. Assist with the effective promotion of special events and functions 
  3. Manage the booking, confirming, and organisation of functions and events, devoting significant time to developing and implementing plans for the efficient operation of all functions/events.
  4. Lead and assist the functions department with the follow-up of all member and customer enquiries and conduct meetings as required with relevant stakeholders. 
  5. Assist with developing appropriate function and event packages liaising with General Manager, Head Chef and function team.
  6. Responsible for the set-up of special events and assisting with functions. Oversee key functions as required to ensure efficient operation and customer satisfaction
  7. Provide reports on functions and special event activity and be available to attend management meetings as required
  8. Ensure established procedures are maintained by staff for; 
  • Function Opening & Closing procedures
  • Function docket procedures for Events and Functions
  • Reconciliation of bar tills 

Skills & Experience:

  1. Minimum 2+ years of demonstrated experience in a senior management role within functions and/or events
  2. Ability to prioritise, plan and organise work to meet deadlines
  3. Experience in the hospitality industry essential
  4. Experience with software packages Bepoz and iVvy is highly desirable
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
  6. Demonstrate an ability to communicate with staff, provide leadership and promote a team environment
  7. Computer literate and understanding of relevant computer software
  8. Responsible Service of Alcohol is essential
