JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

The Assistant Venue Manager is accountable for supporting the Venue Manager and Head Chef to ensure the successful operation of all Food and Beverage activities at Nissan Arena and QSAC. This role plays a pivotal part within Australian Catering Services (ACS), a family-owned company dedicated to delivering exceptional customer service and high-quality catering.

Food and beverage services encompass retail outlets, an onsite café, conferencing, and large-scale events, requiring management across a seven-day roster.

REQUIREMENTS

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assist with event planning and function delivery.
  • Attend events in a supervisor/coordinator capacity as required, including evenings and weekends.
  • Communicate with venue clients and ACS supervisors for smooth event execution.
  • Prepare event worksheets and schedules.
  • Input event information accurately into ACS database.
  • Coordinate with Venue Catering Manager on product availability and stock management.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of ACS products and services.
  • Manage teams of up to 10 on community event days and 20-30 on major event days.
  • Assist in monitoring venue wages and costs.

On Major Event Days:

  • Brief function supervisors and team leaders.
  • Support function delivery and ensure proper presentation and resourcing.
  • Provide operational support to catering staff.
  • Conduct event-specific stocktakes and coordinate stock movement.

On Non-Major Event Days:

  • Supervise retail operations under Venue Catering Manager's guidance.
  • Deliver functions as required.
  • Train and develop function supervisors and team leaders.
  • Coordinate upcoming functions and events.
  • Assist with ordering and stock control.
