Creating a profile that will land you a job

It’s pretty competitive out there and finding a job can be difficult. We’ve created an easy profile template that allows you to create a profile in under 5 minutes that showcases the best parts of your personality and background.

Use A Professional Profile Picture
As much as we love taking selfies with our mates, it's important to remember business owners are looking for people who are reliable, friendly and fit the profile of their business. Take a photo that you feel represents who you are and your personality. Remember, a picture says a thousands words.

Creating a short bio
This is where you can get creative. If you don't have much work experience, that's ok. There are other ways you can stand out from the pack. Have a think about the type of job you are looking and what type of person they would need to fulfill that job. Then, as a quick exercise is to write down words that describe your personality, interests, hobbies and importantly why you are looking for a job.
Once you have these words, you can now write a short description about yourself.

I'm an outgoing 17-year-old seeking a job as a cashier, barista or wait staff. I have an outgoing personality and enjoy meeting new people and understand the importance of good customer service. I am reliable and quick to learn. Play reserve for under 18's netball on a Saturday afternoon and enjoy sports and staying healthy. I'm also part of the SRC at my school and enjoy taking on this leadership role.

Studying and work part-time can be a juggling act. It's important for you to apply for roles that work within your schedule and commitments such as sport. In your profile, you can be clear what availability you would have during the week.

List Your Previous Roles
Employers understand that casual workers may not have a list of previous work experience. And that's ok. If you've had any previous part-time roles make sure you include them in the work experience section. Also, don't forget to add other jobs you have had such as dog-walking, babysitting, car-washing, sport umpiring. These types of jobs shows you've been committed to working, reliable and eager to make money while you study.
