Course Outline
The total time for the Level 1 Award in Wines is 6 hours. This includes the 45 minutes for the examination at the end of the session. The course will be hosted at one of Melbournes best venues.

What You'll be Learning:
The WSET Level 1 Award in Wines is intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge of wines. It's designed to provide a sound but simple introduction to wines.
Candidates will be able to know the key stages in grape growing and winemaking, list the principal types and styles of wine, state the key characteristics of wines made from the principal grape varieties as well as other examples of wines, and know the key principles involved in the storage and service of wine.
There are three main outcomes of the qualification:
- Outcome 1: Know the key stages in grape growing and winemaking.
- Outcome 2: Know they types, charateristics and styles of wines made from the principle grape varieties and other examples of wines.
- Outcome 3: Know the key principles and practices involved in the storage and service of wine.
Enrollment process and requirements:
There are no restrictions on entry to the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines. Candidates who are under the legal minimum age for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages in the country where the examination is being held, or those who choose not to taste alcohol for health or religious reasons, will not be allowed to sample any alcoholic beverage as part of their course, but this is not a barrier to successfully completing the qualification.
