Fratelli Fresh donates 650 meals weekly to healthcare workers, until the end of June
Apr 14, 2020
Fratelli chefs will make 650 fresh meals each week, which will be delivered to Sydney hospitals at the heart of the crisis.
Fratelli Fresh is working closely with Sydney Local Health District, which will facilitate the distribution of meals to staff across its hospital network.
Feed the Front Line is being ran out of the Fratelli Fresh flagship restaurant at Darling Harbour, which has transformed into the headquarters, kitchen, and distribution centre for the Fratelli Fresh Grocer home-delivery service. Customers can order groceries, DIY meal kits and ready-made meals at Fratelli Fresh Grocer – shop.Fratelli.com.au – and have them delivered to their home.
Businesses and individuals can also donate meals, for $10 each, to the Feed the Front Line program via the Fratelli Fresh Grocer website. These meals will be added to the 650 pledged each week by Fratelli Fresh.
Feed the Front Line meals include vegetarian lasagne, beef and pork lasagne, chicken and vegetable soup, pumpkin soup, penne Bolognese and Thai green curry with basmati rice, which will be rotated daily. The first meals will be delivered on Wednesday, 15 April, and will continue until the end of June, 2020.
Fratelli Fresh is part of Rockpool Dining Group, which is funding the program through its Rockpool Foundation with additional support from its owner Quadrant Private Equity.
Rockpool Dining Group Chief Executive Officer Thomas Pash said it is an honour to support Sydney’s healthcare workers who are doing an incredible job at the front line, fighting COVID-19.
“At Fratelli Fresh, if there is one thing that we do incredibly well it is cooking comfort food, with lots of love, that has bucketsful of flavour, and it is a privilege to be able to send that comfort, love and nutritional support to our front-line fighters,” Mr Pash said.
“Our donation drive blends really well with our recently launched Fratelli Fresh Grocer online platform and we encourage businesses, families and individuals to get on board, jump online and donate a meal to a healthcare worker so we can make a powerful contribution to this worthy cause.”
“We are so grateful for this very generous donation,” Sydney Local Health District’s Chief Executive Dr Teresa Anderson said. “Our staff are working around the clock to care for others and keep us all safe, and having the support from the community behind them in this difficult time means everything.”
