Creating Coffee Moments: Nestlé's Buondi Brand Refresh

Imagining life without coffee is difficult for many, as it serves as a social lubricant and a moment of relaxation. Inspired by this, Nestlé revamped its Buondi brand to reflect the laid-back Australian lifestyle. Joanna Porter, Head of Beverages at Nestlé Professional, explains, “The Australian way of life balances being active and easy-going. We wanted Buondi to enhance everyday moments, making coffee a special treat.”
Originally launched in Portugal and introduced to Australia in 2015, Buondi has evolved to suit local preferences. “Buondi has honoured its European roots while adapting to modern Aussie coffee culture,” says Joanna. Crafted in Queensland, the blends are designed to complement the Australian habit of drinking coffee with milk; approximately nine out of ten coffees in Australia are white.
Buondi's range includes three blends: Buondi Dark Spark, Buondi Steady State, and Buondi Complex Soul. Buondi Dark Spark is an intense dark roast with a rich aroma of brown sugar and maple syrup, ideal for any milk type. Buondi Steady State, suitable for any time of day, features a delicate nutty aroma with creamy chocolate notes, perfect as black coffee or with milk. Buondi Complex Soul, designed for unwinding, offers a subtle nutty flavour with a malt-like aroma and a smooth toffee finish when paired with milk.
The refreshed Buondi brand features modern branding with a bold purple colour and detailed iconography, reflecting its heritage and craftsmanship. “We collaborated with baristas to ensure the design portrays our expertise and sensory elements,” Joanna notes. The team is excited to roll out the new line across Australia, hoping it encourages people to enjoy their coffee moments, fostering connection and community.
