Summer is here & so are the rooftop bars!

What is it about rooftop bars? They have a certain euphoric energy, maybe it’s the fresh air, the Vitamin-D soaking in from the beautiful sun (thankyou daylight savings 😘), or maybe it’s the higher altitude, but drinking is just more fun from the above! With the summer silly season upon us it’s time to make the most of our iconic Aussie climate and catch-up with friends, colleagues and family with a cocktail in hand at golden hour. 

To make the search easier, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite rooftops. From ocean views to twinkling skyscrapers, these elevated alfresco venues are the places to be this summer!

Sydney:
Hotel Steyne, Manly
The perfect spot to sit with a G&T in hand as the sun goes down. From oysters to the classic pub parma, cocktails and charcuterie boards, let alone the gorgeous beach views, there’s something for everyone at the Steyne - see here for more details. 

Watsons Bay Hotel, Watsons Bay
Sunday family dinners, cocktails with friends and whale watching, Watsons Bay Hotel has it all and is the perfect location for an aperol spritz with fish and chips on a sunny afternoon. See here for details!

Ivy Pool Club, Sydney CBD
Perched at the top of the IVy precinct, the Pool Club Rooftop is the place to soak up the sun rays, relax with a few cocktails and explore the wine list for an after-work catch-up with friends or a friday lunch break with your colleagues! More details here. 

Melbourne: 
QT Melbourne, Melbourne CBD
This sleek venue with panoramic views is the place to be for a post-work drink or weekend brunch. They’ve also got a secret italian themed garden bar at the top of the building, there’s something for everyone at QT! See more details here. 

Imperial Hotel, Melbourne CBD 
The Imperial Hotel is the third oldest pub in Melbourne, so when it comes to the classic pub feeds this rooftop has them down packed. With prime real estate directly opposite Parliament House, the Imperial has 360-degree views of the Melbourne skyline, a rooftop not to be missed! See here for details. 

Harlow, Richmond 
With a brand new rooftop this is the place to be to soak up the sun and admire the pristine city views. The perfect venue for a friday arvo bevvy with your mates or to watch the soccer world cup on their inbuilt screens, book in your spot here. 

The Provincial, Fitzroy 
This rooftop on the corner of Brunswick and Johnston streets has managed to stay classy, set with an old Melbourne industrial vibe from its surrounding red brick buildings. The Prov is the perfect back-drop for post work drinks or weekend chats - see here for more. 

Brisbane: 
Lina Rooftop, South Brisbane 
Calling Brisbane’s skyline home this deluxe rooftop bar screams summer with an infinity pool setting the scene. Merging the most indulgent aspects of the world’s idyllic beachside and rooftop destinations with premium dining, this rooftop can't be left off the list, see here for details!

 

Iris Rooftop, Fortitude Valley
Sitting atop Hotel X, this Spanish oasis in the clouds looks across the Brisbane skyline. With comfy booths and a stellar menu of Middle Eastern food, Iris is the perfect location for friday arvo bevvys with your mates, more details here.

Gold Coast:
The Island Rooftop, Surfer’s Paradise
Set in the heart of Surfers Paradise and on the doorstep of the famous Surfers Paradise Beach, The Island Gold Coast is a newly renovated boutique hotel, paying homage to the natural splendour of a Queensland seaside village with abundant hardwood timbers, native plant life and open facades – bringing the outside, in! Perth: 

Rooftop at QT, CBD
Setting the scene with night lights across the Perth city, QT Rooftop will send your eyes to the sky. Sitting atop the city skyline on the eighteenth floor, enjoy some bar bites and delicious cocktails for your weekend (or weekday) drinks under the moonlight, more details here!

The Aviary, CBD
A destination for travellers and the locals, The Aviary looks over the city skyline with a menu filled with burgers, pizzas and bar snacks, perfect for a mid-work luncheon or friday nights with your mates, see here for details! 

Sweetwater, East Fremantle
This sunny and casual rooftop bar serves up thirst quenching cocktails and delicious asian-inspired share plate dishes to die for. This elegant venue is situated atop the Richmond Quarter development in East Fremantle, looking over the ocean. See here for more details!
