Melbourne's Best Rooftop bars
Jan 21, 2022
With just over a month left of summer, all I want to spend my time on is combining my two favourite things, sunshine and drinking. In true Melbournian fashion, this is of course done by attending every rooftop bar possible. Luckily for us Aus Venue Co have acquired a list of 5 of the best Rooftop Bars in Melbourne.
Fargo and Co
Stop one takes us to Richmond. Going through a purple patch with AFL success and a plethora of new bars and restaurants Richmond is Melbourne’s latest go-to suburb for those who claim to have ‘outgrown’ Chapel Street.
We’re popping into Fargo and Co where the cocktails taste as good as they look on your Insta feed, the brunches are bottomless and the rooftop terrace answers all your inner-city hide-away prayers. Stop by for a cheeky bite or book your crew in for their infamous weekend brunch sessions.

State of Grace
After a brief hiatus State of Grace is back. Take everything you loved about the old State, Melbourne’s best cocktail experiences, hidden cellar bar and if you thought it couldn’t get any better State of Grace’s new home includes one of Melbourne’s best rooftops. Perched up high above King Street takes us to our next stop, where you’ll find yourself immersed in the Melbourne city skyline. The menu is a little more casual than what’s on offer downstairs, designed to encourage a relaxed experience while you keep the cold beers and summery cocktails flowing.
The Provincial Rooftop
A Fitzroy fave has gone from strength to strength since the addition of its kick-ass rooftop bar. Whether it’s a bottomless brunch on the weekend, knock off drinks during the week or a cheeky boogie on a Saturday night The Provincial Rooftop bar has got you covered.
Starring views of the bustling Fitzroy Street, city glimpses plus a cosy and relaxed vibe making The Prov a shoo-in for Melbourne’s best rooftop outside of the CBD.
Imperial Hotel
A long-time home base for sports fans, Imperial Hotel on Bourke Street opened the doors to the whole of Melbourne with its unrivalled rooftop space. Often featuring a huge screen to catch all major sporting events and plenty of other fun brand activations. Starting with the best view of Parliament the city has to offer, perfectly mixed cocktails, a huge range of tap beers and a dedicated rooftop menu, Imperial Rooftop has something for literally everyone.
The Duke
For the city dwellers, we’ve saved the best till last. Melbourne’s Oldest pub, The Duke, upped their game with its fancy Rooftop Bar. Cosy nooks in the undercover section satisfy your dining needs and high-top tables scattered throughout the open terrace make for a spot-on meeting place for casual drinks. While you aren’t 30 storeys high the view towards Flinders Street Station and towards the MCG are special. Be sure to get in the good books with your boss and lock in that early knock-off, this place is chockers by 5:01 pm on a Friday. For the footy fans out there The Rooftop is a perfect stop off pre and post game, or settle in from siren to siren.
