Bye Bye Summer - Hello Johnnie Walker Black Label

The seasons have turned, and the familiar chill of Autumn is signalling a change in the types of drinks our guests are looking for. We’ve prepared some delicious highballs for you working with the complex and smoky Johnnie Walker Black Label. 

It is one of the best-selling blended Scotch Whisky’s in the world and that’s no accident, Johnnie Walker is the perfect starting point for a highball. Its blend of more than 30 malt and grain whiskies, aged for a minimum of 12 years, resulting in a liquid that is greater than the sum of its parts. It’s signature smokiness adds an element of complexity whilst remaining approachable and easy to mix. 

Our perfect serves for these coming months will be the Johnnie Walker Blood Orange Highball. A tasty mix of Johnnie Walker, orange juice and blood orange soda garnished with a fresh blood orange or orange wheel. We’ll also be mixing up the Johnnie & Lemon Highball which combines Johnnie Walker Black Label, Lemon Barley Cordial and Soda water, garnished with a lemon wedge.

Johnnie & Blood Orange Highball 

Johnnie Walker Black Label combined with fresh orange juice and Blood orange soda  

• 30ml Johnnie Walker Black Label 
• 15ml Freshly squeezed orange juice 
• 120ml Blood orange soda  
• Blood Orange or Orange wheel garnish 
• Cubed ice 

Method:  

Grab a tall highball from the fridge and fill with ice. Add ingredients and stir. Garnish and serve 

Standard Drinks: Approx. 0.95 Standard Drinks 

 

Johnnie & Lemon Highball 

• 30ml Johnnie Walker Black Label 
• 30ml Lemon Barley Cordial 
• 120ml Soda Water 
• Lemon wedge garnish 
• Cubed ice

Food pairing: 

Both Johnnie & Blood Orange and Johnnie & Lemon Highballs are the perfect drink for afternoon dinking or standing events where food is offered in canape format. 

Both the Johnnie & Blood Orange or Johnnie & Lemon highball pairs perfectly with meats and charcuterie, grilled cheese or fried wontons as well as dishes that would normally require a squeeze of lemon. They also pair well with deserts with an element of spice or custard like a custard tart.
